An absolute fuck ton of head coaches and offensive coordinators are stepping down and getting fired right now. It is honestly crazy. The head coaches I can remember right now are Mike McDaniel of the Dolphins, John Harbaugh of the Ravens, Mike Tomlin of the Steelers, and Brian Daboll of the Giants... but it has been a total of around 9 head coaches that have been fired or stepped down this year, it is wild!
Since I am an Eagles fan, I have been begging for the firing of our offensive coordinator damn near the entire season. He has finally been canned from that position. He is still there, just not in charge of the offense, thank god. I think our head coach should be sacked too, but they won't be doing that. My hope is that they pick up Mike McDaniel to replace Patullo. Even though he was a head coach, I think he could do great things with the Eagles. Plus, I have grown quite attached to him as a Dolphins fan (my AFC team). Genuinely, I think the Dolphins have made a huge mistake in firing him. They wanted Harbough bad, but he is seemingly going to the Giants! Unless they end up with Mike Tomlin, they are screwed! There are really no other super good candidates as far as I am aware. I think they totally jumped the gun thinking that they would be able to get him.
I also wanted to breifly mention Mike Tomlin, who decided to step down rather than be fired. He still had a year left on his contract, so many people were surprised by this, including the players. A N*w Y*rk T*mes (censored because fuck them) article came out detailing the players' reaction to him stepping down, and Aaron Rodgers was the one who really stood out to me. He clearly loves Tomlin a lot and respects him. According to the article, Aaron Rodgers was actually crying and telling him "I'm sorry" over and over. I can't believe it. That is so sad.
The Seahawks and Broncos got to take a nice nap this weekend as they are both the first seed for the NFC and the AFC respectively!
Meanwhile, the others got to to work!
The Bills went to Jacksonville Jaguars to defeat the Jags, knocking them out of the playoffs. Both teams fought hard, but Jags simply couldn't do it. Luckily they have Trevor Lawrence those grills before he lost in the playoffs. I was not able to catch this game, but according to my boyfriend, Lawrence had pulled a Josh Allen and asked for another second on the clock so they could kick a field goal.
Eagles at home against the 49ers was so sad. Eagles have been playing like shit all year because the play calls are so horrendous and their OF needs fired right now. The 49ers were all injured and fucked up, the Eagles absolutely could have won, and they were close, but no cigar. Just could not get it done. FIRE KEVIN PATULLO NOW!
Chargers Pats game was so fucking boring, Pats won. Whatever. Chargers went all the way across the country to kick a field goal. Panthers and Rams was super close. I wasn't able to catch it, but they were just going back and forth basically. Finally, Monday Night Football gave us the Texans and Steelers game, and probably Aaron Rodgers' last game too. He looked so sad. He will probably have nightmares of the Texan's defense sacking him. He looks so sad all the time when he is not winning. I hope he comes back, I know I will miss him if he doesn't.
The playoffs are a confusing thing, but let's talk about it! This is for people who do not know how the NFL Playoffs work. I did not at first, so I think this is an important thing to talk about for anyone following this website.
First off, the big thing to know is that the NFL is divided into two halves, the NFC and the AFC. Within each of those halves, you have four more groups, which are divided by cardinal directions. Don't think of these as solely geographical though, because some are grouped together that are not physically close. So there is the NFC North, East, South, and West and an AFC equivalent to that as well. For example, the Philadelphia Eagles are in the NFC East, alongside the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and NY Giants. Notice how Dallas is considerably farther than the rest.
There are 7 playoffs spot available. Each division winner is guaranteed a playoff spot, and the team with the highest winnning percentage gets the "top seed" and that means they get a bye week the first round of playoffs. For example, the Seahawks are currently leading the NFC and are at the top seed. They are in the NFC West. However, it is worth noting that two other teams in the NFC West are also doing really well. They are not forgotten, they considered wild cards and are the 5th, 6th, and 7th seeds in the playoffs. The 2nd seed goes against the 7th, the 3rd against the 6th, and the 4th against the 5th.
After this, is is simply a bracket like you would normally imagine. Each the NFC and the AFC gets a champion in the end, and they face off in the Super Bowl!
Although I am very grateful that the Eagles have gotten their playoff spot, there's still some serious issues with the team that I think need to be taken care of first to even consider them to not go out first round in the playoffs.
Two big things: the playcalls, and Jake Elliott.
Each time the Eagles have a 1st down, they always run Saquon Barkley up the middle. Without fail. It is all they ever do for first downs. I don't get it. I never see it work, save for a few times, because literally every team knows we do it, and they stop Saquon ASAP because he can't run through a wall of big men. Other teams think we are predictable, so we are only able to beat teams who are actually bad.
Next: JAKE ELLIOTT, IT IS TIME TO GO!!!
I was down with him at first, but no longer am I confident in his ability to kick accurately after missing 3 field goals in just one half of the game. They ran a 2-pt conversion instead of relying on him, and generally many teams do not go for those unless they are necessary to win the game in that exactly moment. Dude needs to be traded or something. He was doing pretty well in the playoffs last season, but this time he is not pulling his weight, and I know for a fact we would have won one or more games had he not missed his kicks.
I am concerned for everyone but the defense. I know that Jalen Carter will be out until playoffs probably, which is a good thing, because the defense is the best part of this team right now and we need to keep them as healthy as possible. I wish we could just play all of our backups right now because we already have our spot, but I also know this team never gives up. I pray at least they have our back QB in for half the game once we go against the Commanders for the final game of the season.
Already, things are heating up for a few teams as the playoffs are coming up in just two weeks. The Eagles, the team I actually give a shit about, has clinched a playoff spot. Their game with the Commanders was a given for a win, despite them having issues with the Cowboys, another division rival. Other NFC playoff spots that are clinched are Seahawks, the Bears, the Rams, and the 49ers. Only two AFC teams have clinched a playoff spot so far, which are the Patriots and the Broncos. They are both 12-3 as of right now.
Some interesting player news, DK Metcalf assaulted a fan during the Steelers vs Lions game yesterday. He is going to be suspended for two games and fined. The fan reportedly called him the n-word, or something similar, and supposedly he has issues with this fan before at a Seahawks game. No clue why this guy is going out of his way hundreds of miles to call DK Metcalf slurs.
Bills played against the Browns this week, and only won by three. How pathetic. It is the Browns! Josh "Jason Hell" Allen got a measley 6.9 points on fantasy for my boyfriend, which helps me out a lot because it is only us now going for the win.
Chiefs are officially out of course, and they have been using their backup QB, but he got injured on the third play of this week 16 game against the Titans. So now the Chiefs are on their 3rd string QB. Pretty crazy. They think the backup, Gardener Minshew, was also out with an ACL injury just like Patrick Mahomes is.
So sorry for the delay, guys! I will be much better next season about this. I'm still in university and pretty busy. Who gives a fuck tho? Let's get into it.
The Raiders Broncos game was so boring. The Raiders got a singular pathetic touchdown, and the Broncos did too. Broncos got a field goal as well, and that won them the game. It was not a last-minute kick or anything. They just did bad. Same as last week!
Those Buffalo Bills though... wow. They lost big time to the Miami Dolphins, surprising everyone. It was an amazing game to watch for me. I hate the Bills so much, everytime they lose I get excited. I thought this game was going to crush my soul. Turns out, the Dolphins know how to make the Bills their bitch! The score was 30-13. Amazing! I am wearing a Miami Dolphins shirt to celebrate today.
The Eagles prevailed against the Packers. It was a miserable game. Both offenses were shit while the Eagles defense played pretty solid.
The Dolphins make me so sad. Why can they not play the game? They need to take Tua to the hospital, dude has no clue what he is doing. I'm pretty sure their score of 6 was from two field goals. Speaking of field goals, the Broncos only won by 1 field goal in their game this week.
The Giants are finally learning what it is like to lose. Cam Skattebo, their running back, got seriously injured last week, which is probably one of the reasons they did not do as well. He was quite a good player with great energy, so it sucks this happened to him. While I am on the NFC East, let's quickly diss on the Commanders. YOU GUYS SUCK! Lost to the Seahawks... Also, Donald Trump will be at their next game, so I will continue to wish them the worst of luck.
This week had a lot of surprises, and it technically is not over, as it is only Monday.
First off, the Chiefs practically blew out the Ravens in their game together. The Giants WON a game?!
This was an insane week for blocked kicks. My favorite one, of course, was the blocked Rams field goal. The Rams needed one field goal to get the win against my beloved Eagles. I thought it was over. I felt defeated. I watched the Rams kicker kick the ball...... AND JORDAN DAVIS SMACKS THAT THING! He grabs it and he runs!! He gets a touchdown!!! The Eagles win!!!! It was so beautiful. This was the second blocked kick the Eagles did that game. Another thing to mention is that #90, Jordan Davis, is 336 pounds and he ran over 18 miles per hour when running across that field to make the final touchdown. That's just part of it though, there were a total of 4 blocked kicks this week alone. The Jets also got a blocked field goal returned for a TD in the last few minutes in their game against the Buccaneers. The same thing happened in Cleveland, and the Packers would have snatched that lead up, but nope! Shelby Harris blocked it, and this helped the Browns win the game, which shocked a lot of people.
The Dolphins had an embarassing game and I can't believe I actually wore my Dolphins shirt. Good thing I brought my Eagles jacket to cover it up. I mean, we all knew they were gonna lose against the Bills, but damn. It did kind of hurt to see. I thought it would be really funny. I think as this season goes on, my team opinions are changing. I would hope so, though.
The NFC West is thriving right now. The 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams are all 2-0 and the Seahawks are stuck at 1-1, which is not bad at all this early on. I am wondering how far the Cards will make it this year. I am partial to bird teams, so I will be keeping an eye on them. The Eagles are against the Rams next, so at least one team will go 2-1.
The end of the Broncos Colts game was absolutely jawdropping. There was a make-or-break field goal at the very end of the game. The Colt's kicker missed. Everyone thought the game was over until there was a flag thrown. The flag was on the Broncos, so the Colt got to kick again and it was kicked in the goal! I bet the crowd was losing their mind no matter what team they are on.
The Eagles were in Kansas City yesterday. I was so nervous. They are the closest team to me, so the Chiefs are pretty much everyone's favorite team where I live. I totally get that, but I fucking hate them. I think they are nearly all horrible people. They were wearing these "Free 4" shirts... For anyone who doesn't know, number 4 is Rashee Rice. He recently got suspended six weeks from the NFL for driving way too fast and casuing a multi-vehicle crash. He only got thirty days in jail and five years on probabtion. Do we really want him free? The fucking felon who caused others bodily injury UNLRELATED to football? I am so sick of this team.
This type of horrible behavior is exactly why they deserved to be beaten by the Eagles for the second time this year. Travis Kelce continues to be a horrible fucking player. No touchdowns and he pretty much cost them the game by messing up a single play and allowing the Eagles player to get control of the ball.
The Chiefs sacked my beautiful, perfect Jalen Hurts and even insulted him at the end. Chris Jones yelled "You dont even have a hundred yards!" and Jalen Hurts said back "We just won the fucking game. Shut yo ass up." God, he's so cool and tough. He was smiling so big after the game on the Eagles's social media accounts. I was thinking the whole time about how the crowd in Kansas City might be getting into his head or hurt his feelings, but I should've known he will be strong.
I accidentally deleted my post that talked about the games this week, so let me summarize the games I cared to watch other than the Cowboys Eagles game because that is still up.
Let's start with the Friday Chiefs Chargers game in Brazil. I play the ads during the games for a radio station, but I have the game up so I can watch. I was expecting the Chiefs to win, but nope! Herbert, the Chargers QB, had an amazing game against them. The Chiefs were slowly getting more frustrated as the game progressed. First off, Kelce decided to be a human battering ram against his own teammate, Xavier Worthy. Worthy is expected to play still for week two, but he was injured by it and not able to play for the rest of the game. Later on in the game, Kelce pushed a DL for the Chargers, Tart, off of him. In response, Tart slaps him. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so happy to be watching the game and to see that live. Perfection. Then, they Chiefs lost.
The Ravens Bills game was what some like to call "real football." The Ravens were up by 15 points a few minutes before the fourth quarter ends. In miraculous fashion, the Bills have a comeback and end the game 40-41. Ravens fans are pissed at their team, as they have a tendency to lose like this too often. Bills fans are now certain they are going to the bowl.
I'll briefly discuss the Lions Packers and Dolphins Colts games. The Packers beat the Lions and got to show off their newly acquired Micah Parsons. Lions fans are upset starting the season with a loss, but they will get over it. Dolphins fans are taking their loss a lot harder. They didn't make it to the double digits, while the Colts got 33. The post below details some of their thoughts and feelings on the matter.
I'm pretty active on Reddit, I won't lie. Most of the time I am on the NFL subreddits, and after the Week 1 Dolphins game, the fans are already saying it's over. Some of the posts I have seen are downright depressing. Here are some quotes.
As you read these, also keep in mind that their WR Tyreek Hill's ex/estranged wife is accusing him of domestic violence and various other horrible things. Pretty much everyone believes it. Morale is very low.
Oh my god. Football is here. Last night's game with the Cowboys @ Eagles was a shitshow. Before the game's first play, the Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, SPIT at Jalen Carter! He laughed in his face right after. Naturally, he spit on him back. Like a real self-respecting man. This did not work in his favor. Carter got ejected from the game before it even started. He is a great player, too. The Cowboys had been playing to stop this guy specifically. Yet, they still could not win! It's not their year, despite what their fans think. Jalen Hurts got two rushing touchdowns because he is so good and he is my favorite.
Holy fuck. Micah Parsons pulled a crazy move. He got traded to the PACKERS. So many people were certain they would shell out however much he wanted to keep him in Dallas, but clearly Jerry Jones does not feel the same. The Packers are another NFC team and they will be playing the Cowboys this season. That game shoud be very interesting!
Dolphins football is back in full swing!!! This morning, their OLB coach Ryan Crow got arrested for battery. He is now on administrative leave. No further comments have been made by the Dolphins or the NFL. The victim refused medical attention and was not seriously injured, thankfully. He had the victim up off the ground like he was going to perform a takedown and whispered something into their ear before letting them down. There was a second victim apparently, who reported Crow slapping and "grappling" with the first victim. I am unsure of what happened to the second, but they were labeled a victim in the Yahoo Sports article. More might come out later, but this is just classic NFL, so it will probably be forgotten soon.
And, no, I'm not going to be talking about Taylor Swift here. Fuck you.
The preseason is finally over. The Chiefs have lost all three of their games in case anybody was wondering. I only caught a few more games, but I still am not sure what to think. The Eagles and Jets game had me at the edge of my seat. They decided to end the game with 20 seconds or so on the clock. I really thought that the Jets could have done something, but maybe I am delusional. The score was 19-17 with the Eagles in the lead. Obviously, I am not going to complain about it... my Birds won. A name I am thinking of from the game is the kicker, Jake Elliot. I remember him having a pretty impressive kick for a field goal or something like that. I hope he keeps up the good work. I wanted him on my Fantasy league but I fucked up big time.
Yess, I recently joined a Fantasy League. This means I will be watching certain players a bit more this season. I think you will be able to tell by the people I focus on, but I will have a new page for that soon.
Recently, Travis Kelce from the Chiefs finally admitted that he has been sucking. However, it is not because of his age or the fact that he has played so many post-season games that it practically makes up a whole nother season, it is because he is "acting and being an entertainer." Like, is he serious? Sure, yes, that will distract you, but dude, come on. You are getting older and so is the body that you abuse for money. This is normal in the NFL. Don't blame it on your other endevours and act like you can get that energy back after quitting. I do not think he is going to quit though. I think he likes the attention (and money) too much.
The latest news on the Parsons and Cowboys debacle is Jerry Jones being an ass... again. He recently came out and offered Parsons a metric shitton of money, like over $100mil. Parsons seems determined to deny any offered and insist on a trade still, but Jerry is adament on keeping him. Jerry Jones recently had a little small interview where he openly admits that he "stirs things up." While this does not really surprise me that he does this on purpose, I am a bit shocked that he would say it outloud, alongside things like "That controversy is good stuff!" He prefaced that by saying that he wants the Cowboys to be on people's minds and to remain popular in the offseason. This is just billionare people speak for "I want MORE money so I purposefully disturb the peace." Does he realize he is on Death's door? He literally looks decrepit.
What an interesting first week of preseason. There were two more games today.
The Miami Dolphins played the Chiacgo Bears and they ended up tying the game with both teams having twenty four points. The game was neck and neck pretty much the whole time. There were a few injuries, but only one of them looked like it could have been bad. Still, not good. Honestly, even though the Dolphins could have clutched at the end had they just had a few more seconds, I still have my doubts for this team judging by some of the shit that I seen. I swear to god I watched one of their guys walk AWAY from the ball that was going near him and nobody else. They fucked up like three plays in a row trying to do the same thing. IDK. I love that team, and I wore my Dolphins shirt today, but I think them having a playoff spot is iffy. It's just preseason though. Can't too ahead of myself.
I also caught the New Orleans Saints and LA Chargers game. Wow, was it boring. No one was scoring at all, and then the Chargers started whooping ass. Honestly, nothing too crazy happened. There was one player who had to be helped off the field, but I didn't catch who. The first week of the preseason is now over. I think I will watch the Eagles game I missed now.
I became an NFL fan just last year, so this is my first full season of football that I am experiencing. I don't know how preseason games usually are, but it seems like this season they are a mess.
The Seahawks literal hawk Taima (who, fun fact, was born at the St. Louis Bird Sanctuary) got stuck in the net before their game against the Raiders on Thursday. Poor baby. Thankfully, Taima was gotten down very fast.
In the Lions and Falcons preseason game on Friday, the Lions' Morice Norris was injured pretty badly. He had to be taken off the field in an ambulance. The players were very supportive of Norris, and they decided to stop playing in solidarity. I think this kinda stuff is important. The NFL totally was expecting to keep that game going, but the players refused. Hopefully, a loss in revenue can convince the NFL to consider player safety more! Norris is reportedly doing okay now.
I would also like to mention, when I was watching the Chiefs and Cards game, there was a moment in time where the announcer was literally just staring at us and the people behind the camera. This went on for easily a minute, probably more. It was very strange and I assume he just did not know he was live, or knew and was not given a cue to start so he felt awkward. Or, the guy swapping cameras is a dumbass.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the Nicki Minaj-Dez Bryant Twitter fight on here. Let's talk about it.
I am so unsurprised about this whole thing. For those who are out of the loop, I'll catch you up.
Micah Parsons, the best Cowboys player, wants more money, so he publically requested a trade. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones starts talking shit on Parsons' agents, saying Roc Nation (the agency company) is the reason he doesn't like dealing with agents during contract deals. Dez Bryant, a famous former Cowboys player who, publically addresses Jerry Jones, saying: "JERRY JONES I DONT THINK ITS SMART TO MENTION MY NAME. I KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR SHIT.. ON SOME G SHIT… WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THATS WHAT WE ARE DOING"
For some fucking reason, Nicki Minaj decided to insert herself into this. She has problems with everyone, including Jay-Z, who owns Roc Nation. She said, in true Jigsaw fashion, "How about we play a game? Every time you do a 'Jerry Jones' or 'NFL' story time, I'll do a 'story time' of my own."
She goes onto to say in a reply that all of her stories will be about "ROC NATION, JAYZ & THE ALLEGED RACIST DESIREE PEREZ, ROC NATION CEO." I personally have no clue what she is talking about, and that is really not the part of this that interests me. It gets better.
Bryant tries to end the whole thing, telling her that he is a fan and to have a good day. She then brings up his arrest for domestic abuse on his mother, which totally pissed him off. He replies, telling her that was in self-defense, and OF COURSE, brings up that her husband is a sex offender. This sets Minaj off, and she tells Bryant that she will give him $10 million dollars to fight her husband and win "since [he] BEATS [HIS] OWN MOM."
This man was in the NFL, and he was a good player. Minaj's husband... is nothing like that. This offer is ridiculous. Bryant knows this, accepts her offer, and says he will stomp him out in front of her. Good lord.
Offseason got us all a little crazy.
Apparenlty, the Dolphins defense is deadass fighting each other after practicing with the Bears. You might wanna say something like "Wow! they are so passionate! Isn't that great?" but you are COPING. Listen, I love the Dolphins, but that team is a mess. I hope I am able to catch a game or two this season. They have a preseason game on Sunday, so I will probably end up watching that one. It is against the Bears, so this really could be good.
Also, I caught the Commanders and Patriots preseason game, and wow, did the Commies suck. I saw on reddit that they were using like 2-3 place kinda guys while the Patriots had better players out. I don't really know who is who on the teams, but it looked really bad for the Commanders.
Of course, the preseason truly means nothing. But I won't fool anyone by saying I am not excited to see things start up again. This means I start my job soon as well.
